Operation and rest modes of wind turbines

As a renewable energy solution, wind turbines rely on the conversion of wind energy into electrical energy. Whether to take a break during its long-term operation is a common question. This article will introduce the operation mode, rest mode, and related operation and maintenance management of wind turbines.

1、 Operation mode:

The operating mode of a wind turbine refers to its normal working state, where the rotor is driven to rotate by the wind when there is sufficient wind, thereby driving the generator to generate electrical energy. Wind turbines can operate continuously as long as there is sufficient wind energy supply.

2、 Rest mode:

1. High wind speed rest: When the wind speed reaches or exceeds the rated wind speed of the wind turbine, in order to protect the safe and stable operation of the unit, the wind turbine will enter a rest mode. In rest mode, the generator will stop running and the rotor will be perpendicular to the wind direction, reducing the capture of wind force to avoid excessive speed and vibration.

2. Low wind speed delay mode: When the wind speed is too low to meet the power generation requirements, the wind turbine will also enter a rest mode. In this case, the generator will be delayed for a period of time before restarting to wait for sufficient wind power to return to a state where it can generate electricity.

3、 Operation and maintenance management:

The operation and maintenance management of wind turbines is the key to ensuring their safe and efficient operation. Here are some common operation and maintenance management measures:

1. Monitoring system: By using the monitoring system, real-time monitoring of parameters such as wind speed, rotational speed, temperature, etc. can be carried out, and fault diagnosis and warning can be carried out to take corresponding measures in a timely manner.

2. Maintenance and upkeep: Regularly inspect and maintain wind turbines, including checking equipment wear, replacing lubricating oil, tightening screws, etc., to ensure their normal operation.

3. Safety measures: Develop corresponding safety operating procedures, train operation and maintenance personnel, ensure that they understand and comply with relevant safety standards and operating procedures.

Wind turbines do not require rest during operation, but in high and low wind speeds, they will enter corresponding rest modes to protect the safe and stable operation of the unit. Operation and maintenance management is the key to ensuring the normal operation of wind turbines, including monitoring systems, maintenance and upkeep, and the adoption of safety measures. Only through scientific management and maintenance can wind turbines operate efficiently and reliably, providing clean energy for people.
